VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik: teams, format and prizes…


The first major VCT of the year is about to begin, and once again we’ll be able to watch some high-quality Valorant gameplay in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavík. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for it.

VCT Stage 1 Masters will definitely not be what we all expected, especially when it comes to qualifying teams. But does that make us wait any longer? No, quite the contrary – the history of Valorant esports is being written before our eyesand we want this event as soon as possible.

Outside of esports, it’s at this event that we’ll likely learn the new officer, map and future plans from the developers. We’re sure many of you share our excitement, so we’ve compiled all the information you might need to follow this tournament!

Let’s start with the 12 teams who managed to qualify for the event. If you are not up to date with competitive Valorant, we warn you that it can be a little weird browsing through this list.

It should also be mentioned that FunPlus Phoenix also qualified for the tournament, but unfortunately they will participate in the event due to the current situation in Ukraine. And because of that, Team Liquid has taken their place.

VCT Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik: Tournament Format

Huh, winning a Challengers tournament was actually more important than anyone thought. Unlike previous VCT tournaments, the The playoff bracket will be held in a double-elimination format. Besides, the the top four ranked teams from the most competitive regions will advance directly to the Playoffs! These regions are:

  • EMEA (G2 Esports)
  • North America (The Guard)
  • APAC (Paper Rex)
  • LATAM vs Brazil (TBD)

And what about the other eight teams? These will be divided into two groups which will also be played in a Double-Elimination bracket, with the the 2 best teams qualify for the Playoffs.

VCT Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik: Breakdown of prize pools

We don’t know the exact prize pool in terms of money. However, we know how many VCT circuit points will be distributed in this tournamentand this is all the more important as it is with these points that you will be entitled to this year’s world championship tournament. However, once we have more information on the tournament’s total prize pool, we will update this section.
