Warhammer 40K Space Hulk board game is being adapted for PC, Mac and iOS

The spin-off of the 1989 Warhammer 40,000 board game, Space Hulk, is being adapted into a video game for PC, Mac and iOS. It’s for next year.

The turn-based strategy game is developed by Full Control and features Space Marine Terminators battling Alien Genestealers. Remember, this game originated in the 80s when James Cameron movies were popular. Obviously, we’ve come a long way from Space Marines fighting aliens, haven’t we?

Publisher Games Workshop, creators of the original Space Hulk, described this conversion as a “turn-based game that emulates the look and feel of the board game, but with full 3D animation.”

The 12 single-player and co-op missions will be based on the Sin of Damnation campaign from the 2009 board game’s third edition. Additionally, there will be cross-platform competitive multiplayer, a level editor, and upcoming DLC expansions.

“Ever since I played the board game decades ago, I’ve always wanted to recreate this slice of Warhammer 40,000 in video game form. Now we can finally bring the board game to life in glorious 3D full of Frightening Genestealers and mighty Terminators fighting for mankind,” said Full Control CEO Thomas Hentschel Lund.

Games Workshop Licensing Manager Jon Gillard added: “Their [Full Control’s] their passion for the game and their development skills, combined with the power of the Warhammer 40,000 setting will create something very special. There are a lot of people here at Games Workshop who are desperate to have this on their iPad!”
